Here I am shooting a long shot of the Student Freedom Riders walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the site of several marches from Selma to Montgomery to protest voting inequalities in Alabama. They are led in the foreground by original Freedom Riders Robert and Helen Singleton, both of whom have been with us the entire ride from Washington, D.C.

On our way from Birmingham to Montgomery, a hose blew in the AC unit on the bus, leaving us stuck on the side of the highway for a short while. Oddly enough, 50 years ago to the day (May 14), within about 1 hour of when we broke down, the Greyhound bus with the original Freedom Riders broke down in 1961 just outside of Anniston, AL, where it was attacked by a mob and burned on site.

Getting ready to film some B-Roll footage at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. It was hot, probably close to 90 degrees, and I got about an hour and a half of sleep the night before. As tired as I was feeling, the Morehouse College stadium was behind me in this shot and an athlete was running around the track dragging a sled behind him.

On Wednesday, we stopped at the Martin Luther King, Jr. historic site in Atlanta, GA. An eternal flame burns at the site and our Freedom Ride bus was parked on the street in the background. Our next destination was Anniston, Alabama, where a mob of residents burned the Greyhound bus filled with Freedom Riders in 1961.
